Leadership and Vision for the Fundraising Community
Tim was perhaps best known for his passion and advocacy of ethical fundraising. He served many years on the AFP Ethics Committee, including a term as chair in the early 90s. He was often called upon to teach ethics by AFP and its chapters at meetings and events around the world, including the AFP International Conference on Fundraising.
He was a tireless leader for AFP and the fundraising community, serving 11 years on the AFP board of directors including two years as secretary. He also served on numerous AFP committees including: the Strategic Planning Committee, the Committee on Directorship, the Practice Analysis Committee, the Curriculum Development Committee, the Education Standards Committee, the Professional Advancement Division and the Emeritus Society Task Force. Tim was also chair of the Research Council and was very active in the CFRE Program, serving on the board of directors of CFRE International.
“Tim was a mentor, teacher and friend to innumerable individuals in the philanthropic community,” says Paulette V. Maehara, CFRE, CAE, AFP president and CEO. “His insight, his quiet passion and his wry sense of humor will be greatly missed by all of us.”
