Sarah Weikel is the Development Associate at Spark Media Project. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the organization’s fundraising and marketing plans by managing and writing grants, planning and implementing special events, and soliciting and recruiting new community partners and corporate sponsors.
Prior to joining Spark Media Project, Sarah worked as the Marketing Assistant at Ashworth Creative, and in fundraising, marketing, and programing at various local nonprofits including Cerebral Palsy of Ulster County, Historic Huguenot Street, and the Newburgh Free Library.
A Hudson Valley native, Sarah graduated summa cum laude from SUNY New Paltz with both her BA and a MA in English Literature (with a specialization in Rhetoric), and continues to teach and research in the field of epidemiological discourse, narratives of illness, classical rhetoric, speech, and composition at Sullivan County Community College.
Sarah currently serves on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter as the Education Committee Chair, and in 2016, was recognized as the "Rising Star Fundraiser" at National Philanthropy Day. Sarah also serves as Secretary for the Inspire CP Foundation Board, Marketing Co-Chair of the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region's "Young Leaders United", and volunteers as a Book Buddy and grant reviewer for the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region. Sarah is also a member of the Leadership Dutchess class of 2017.
