Melissa McCoy

Melissa has been a life-long resident of the Hudson Valley. Her professional career began in NYC in the field of project management, design and construction, where she was the Director of Real Estate, Design & Construction, and then went on to own an interior consulting firm, specializing in clients large scale development projects for N.Y. State.

In 2010, she pursued new professionals interests and opportunities in the field of community outreach, marketing and development, when she joined Elant as the Director of Corporate Initiatives. During her four-year tenure, Melissa was promoted to Vice President of the Elant Foundation & Community Relations while establishing herself as an innovative leader in her profession and in the community. In 2014, Melissa was named Chief Advancement Officer for Abilities First, leading the organizations marketing, communications, community outreach and development strategies.

Throughout Melissa’s life she has maintained a continual commitment to community service. She enjoys the opportunity to contribute her skills and leadership experience to advancing the mission of many of the regions not-for-profit organizations. Her focus of interest is on developing collaborative opportunities amongst the regions organizations and resources.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Marymount College, Tarrytown, New York. She is a graduate of Leadership Orange, Leadership Dutchess, and Pattern for Progress Fellows Program. She presently serves, on the Boards of the American Cancer Society- Eastern Division, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County, and as President of the Mid-Hudson Valley Association of Fundraising Professionals. She has served on numerous other regional boards and committees including arts organizations, youth programs, historical societies, and most notably as President of the Marymount College of Fordham University Alumnae Association.

In 2008, Melissa was presented the Marymount College of Fordham Universities Alumnae Association’s first and only Centennial Award, for her leadership in advancing the alumnae of Marymount, and preserving the Marymount legacy. Melissa has been selected to be one of the 2014 honorees of the Tribute to Women of Achievement Award presented by the Girl Scout Heart of the Hudson & the YWCA of Orange County, as well as the recipient of the Thumbs Award by Kidz4Causes.  

Melissa is most proud of her role as mother to her three children Courtney, Chelsea, and Brandon. Melissa resides in Cornwall with her partner Alan.
