The MHV Chapter relies on volunteer power to keep our programs and services strong. Volunteering is a great way to meet other fundraising professionals in our area and it's also a lot of fun.
Volunteers needed to serve on diversity committee and assist with activity planning.
Volunteers needed to assist with monthly web/audioconferences.
Volunteers needed to welcome, recruit and retain members, assist with member orientation, and help organize annual member party.
National Philanthropy Day
Volunteers needed to serve in awards, communications, publications, program, audiovisual, sponsorships, co-conveners, and Honor Your Own.
Government Relations & Ethics
Volunteers needed to create a strategic plan to contact our Legislature about important issues in fundraising.
2016 Membership Scholarship Program
To advance our profession and grow chapter membership, the Mid Hudson Valley Chapter will offer $1,875 in scholarships for the 2016-2017 year to help qualified individuals attain AFP membership. Distribution of these scholarships within the several categories will vary in response to applications. Recipients will be notified in September 2016.
Scholarship Recipient Responsibilities: All Scholarship Recipients must:
- Serve on at least one AFPMHV Committee,
- Attend National Philanthropy Day (on November 2, 2016),
- Participate in the mentorship program,
- Attend at least two educational webinars,
- Attend one AFPMHV Board Meeting.
Young Professional Membership
Scholarships will be offered for the 2016-year to three Young Fundraising Professionals working in the Mid-Hudson Valley.
Criteria: Applicants must hold some degree of responsibility directly for fundraising, work within the Mid Hudson Valley for an organization that provides benefits to society, are compensated for their services, are 30 years old or younger, must subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards and its bylaws and promote the Donor Bill of Rights.
Award: Recipients will receive a Young Professional membership, active for the course of one year.
New Fundraising Professional Membership
Associate memberships will be given to Professionals that are beginning a career in Philanthropy or Fundraising, after having worked 3 or more years in an unrelated field.
Criteria: Applicants must be newly engaged in fields related to fundraising and fundraising support (within the first three years of work in fundraising/philanthropy), hold a position in which applicants are responsible for development/fundraising, and subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards and promote the Donor Bill of Rights. Associate members in good standing may vote, serve on chapter or Association committees and hold Association or chapter office.
Award: Recipients will receive a New Associate Membership, active for the course of one year.
Supportive Membership (Membership Renewals)
Scholarships will be offered for membership renewals.
Award: Scholarships will be offered for membership renewals in any of the individual membership categories, for any existing active membership purchased through AFPMHV.
Criteria: Applicants must be AFP members within the Chapter service territory, and be actively seeking to remain in fundraising.
A completed scholarship applications must be completed and returned by July 1 in order to be considered for a scholarship. All applicants must submit a current resume with their application.
*Applications for Young Professional and New Professional Membership Scholarships must include a resume and a letter of endorsement from the applicant’s Executive Director/Board President, along with a narrative response to the questions on the application form.
