2017 Membership Scholarship Program
To advance our profession and grow chapter membership, the Mid Hudson Valley Chapter will offer scholarships for the 2017-2018 year to help qualified individuals attain and continue AFPMHV membership. Distribution of these scholarships within the several categories will vary in response to applicationship categories. No membership renewals will be considered in the Young Professional or New Professional Member categories.
Young Professional Membership
Young Professional memberships will be offered for the 2017-2018 year to Young Fundraising Professionals working in the Mid-Hudson Valley.
Criteria: Applicants must hold some degree of responsibility directly for fundraising, work within the Mid Hudson Valley, are compensated for their services, are 30 years old or younger, must subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards and its bylaws and promote the Donor Bill of Rights and be employed, or have been employed by an organization that provides benefits to society.
Award: Recipients will receive a Young Professional membership, active for the course of one year, and access to the Chapter’s robust mentoring program.
New Fundraising Professional Membership
New Fundraising Professional (Associate) memberships will be given to Professionals that are beginning a career in Philanthropy or Fundraising, after having worked 3 or more years in an unrelated field.
Criteria: Applicants must be newly engaged in fields related to fundraising and fundraising support (within the first three years of work in fundraising/philanthropy), hold a position in which applicants are responsible for development/fundraising, and subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards and promote the Donor Bill of Rights. Associate members in good standing may vote, serve on chapter or Association committees and task forces and hold Association or chapter office.
Award: Recipients will receive a New Associate Membership, active for the course of one year, and access to the Chapter’s robust mentoring program.
Scholarships will be offered for membership renewals.
Award: Scholarships will be offered for membership renewals in any of the individual membership categories, for any existing active membership purchased through AFPMHV.
Criteria: Applicants must be AFP members within the Chapter service territory1, and be actively seeking to remain in fundraising.
A completed scholarship applications must be completed and returned by August 15 in order to be considered for a scholarship. All applicants must submit a current resume with their application.
*Applications for Young Professional and New Professional Membership Scholarships must include a resume and a letter of endorsement from the applications Executive Director/Board President.
All scholarship recipients will be expected to serve on a committee while receiving their scholarship.
